The above Japanese characters (called "kanji") indicate "Reiki" meaning "universal life force energy." WHAT IS REIKI? Reiki (pronounced “Ray-kee”) is a simple and powerful hands-on healing technique that creates balance and harmony within mind, body, and spirit. The word “Reiki” comes from two Japanese characters: “Rei” meaning “universal soul or spirit” and “ki” meaning “energy.” Together the two words signify “universal life-force energy.” As a healing method, Reiki uses an energy transmittal system in which the Reiki practitioner draws energy from the universe and then transfers this energy to the self or another. Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual blocks are dissolved with Reiki, bringing people greater health and overall wellbeing. Reiki works with the body's innate wisdom to facilitate healing where and how it is needed. HISTORY OF REIKI In ancient India and later in Tibet, spiritual mystics used Reiki energy privately for purification, healing and enlightenment. Reiki became a lost art until a Japanese monk, Dr. Mikao Usui, rediscovered the techniques in the 1800’s during a quest to discover how Christ and Buddha had healed through touch. In the 1930’s Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to the United States from Japan after she had been healed of illness through a series of Reiki treatments. Today Reiki healing is taught and practiced throughout the world as a gentle, effective technique for self-healing and healing others. Reiki may be used effectively on people, animals, plants, and even on projects. AMERICAN REIKI ACADEMY Established by Reiki Master Alexandra Juliani, the American Reiki Academy offers a full curriculum in Reiki, including: thorough instruction and certification in all levels of Reiki training; Reiki private healing sessions; and Reiki practice circles. Classes are small to ensure that all students receive adequate personal attention, with certification being awarded upon completion of classes.
In addition to its Reiki program, the American Reiki Academy presents lectures and seminars with guest speakers and metaphysical practitioners. The Academy’s intent is to further the growth of individuals by providing them with the necessary tools for personal empowerment and spiritual harmony. REIKI MASTER ALEXANDRA JULIANI, M.A., Director Alexandra Juliani, M.A. is a certified Reiki Master Teacher in direct lineage of Dr. Mikao Usui, original Grandmaster of Reiki. As Director of the American Reiki Academy, Ms. Juliani has trained thousands of students worldwide to become accomplished Reiki practitioners and Reiki Master Teachers. Ms. Juliani has been involved with Reiki for the past 20 years. After completing her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in literature, Ms. Juliani taught English and literature to high school and college students, while simultaneously studying Reiki and related healing modalities with five different Reiki Masters. She eventually become not only an accomplished teacher of the Reiki system of natural healing, but also a gifted intuitive healer and clairaudient channel. Her training in the healing arts has also included: meditation, channeling, crystal healing, Sanskrit mantra chanting, pranayama, psychic development, chakra work, and creative visualization. In addition to her Reiki studies, Ms. Juliani had the rare privilege of being initiated in India as the first American Master Teacher of Vedic Healing™, and she now serves as Executive Director of the Vedic Healing™ Institute of Bangalore, India and Los Angeles, California. Ms. Juliani has published articles about Reiki, mantras, and the healing arts and is currently writing a comprehensive book about Reiki. From a family of teachers, Ms. Juliani practices and teaches Reiki in the Los Angeles area and abroad. Her dedication to helping people attain spiritual harmony permeates both her work and being.
